‘College Football Meets Resorts!’ Is This the Perfect Combo That Fans Have Been Waiting For?
Long-time magazine publisher Sports Illustrated (SI) has entered the real estate space in an entirely new way. They recently went live at their newest beach front resort in the Dominican Republic - Cap Cana - and now they’re **shifting their focus from the tropics, back to the sports landscape that they know so well.
With this next line of hotels and resorts, Sports Illustrated and their partners hope to take the fan experience up a notch by creating the ultimate year-round haven for the most die-hard college sports fans. The first of this line is slated to open in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; catering to the Crimson Tide.
The University of Alabama football team regularly draws a packed house to their 100,000 seat stadium. Sports Illustrated Resorts, Travel & Leisure Co., along with Sports Hospitality Ventures, have announced that they will be building an Alabama Crimson Tide themed hotel that will be the first of its kind. The full-service property will include condominiums and a vacation ownership club, a state of the art Sports Illustrated Health & Wellness Center, restaurants, entertainment, and multiple bars.
The Tuscaloosa location is rumored to open in late 2025, and there have already been rumblings of a University of Michigan Wolverines hotel and resort coming to the college town of An Arbor next.
